Donald "Bugs” Vulcani 86 of LaSalle, passed away peacefully on June 18 at OSF St. Elizabeth Peru. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial mass will be Thursday June 27 at 11 in the Queen of the Holy Rosary Memorial Shrine. The Very Revered Tom Otto, Pastor of LaSalle Catholic Parishes will officiate.
Burial will follow at St. Hyacinth Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be in the Shrine on Thursday from 9:15 until the time of services. The Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle is handling the arrangements.
Don was born on August 13, 1937 at St. Mary’s Hospital in LaSalle to Zack and Mary (Martis)Vulcani.
He married his high school sweetheart, LeDean Freschi on August 29, 1959 at St. Roch’s Catholic Church in LaSalle. They were blessed with a marriage of forty five years, five children, until LeDean's passing in 2005.
Don, along with his brother Roger, were the owners and operators of The LaSalle Dental Laboratory. The Lab was founded by their father, Zack in 1934.
He was a member of Holy Rosary. He was a long time member of North American Decoy Collectors Association. He had an extremely gifted talent in wood carving, especially known for his mourning doves, songbirds, and water fowl. He enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He cherished being around family and was blessed with many lifelong friends.
He is survived by: three daughters: Cris (Paul) Urban of Chapel Hill, NC., Lynn (Robert) Sabatini of Charleston, NC., and Rebecca (Bill) Perkins of Arlington, IL. two sons: Steven (Mary) Vulcani of Lakewood, CO., and John Vulcani of LaSalle.
five grandchildren: Doyle, and Jack Vulcani, Melissa and Zach Urban, and Bella Sabatini. one great grandson: Mason Urban, and one great granddaughter due in autumn.
one brother: Roger (Carol) Vulcani of LaSalle. Many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
