Obituary for David Carey
David Carey, 52, of Utica passed away unexpectedly September 2 at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford. He was lovingly surrounded by his children, Amy, and his father Juice (Billie) Carey.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Danny Carey Memorial Park in Utica on Thursday Sept 9th from 4pm to 6pm. An additional Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Cedar Rapids Iowa.
He was born on March 25, 1969 in Ottawa to Jerry “Juice” and Sharon (Hill) Carey. He went to Mount Mercy College and played on the Mustangs baseball team. On August 26, 1995, he married Amy Heaford in Iowa. In August 2020, Dave moved back to Utica and became the operator of Joy and Ed’s in Utica. He was also on the verge of helping to open Juice’s Tap in Peru and Jonesville. He enjoyed being back in Utica and spending extra time with Juice, getting the softball team back together, and golfing.
He is survived by his four children, Calista Carey of Des Moines, Iowa; David “Trot” Carey of Utica, Piper Carey of Utica; and Johanna “Joey” Carey of Marion, Iowa. Amy Carey,
his father, Jerry “Juice” (Billie) Carey, and sister Danielle (Ken) Balma, Utica,
aunts and uncles : Carrie and Bob Senica, Cheryl and Chad Beavers, Brenda and Aaron Mini, Paula Carey and friend Jim Doherty, Mick and Lori Carey, Dava Hill Aussem, Pauline and Gary Hefner, Theresa and Jerry Schott, Lori and Nort Stevens. ,
nieces , nephews, and cousins and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother Sharon Carey, Grandfather Eddie and his beloved Grandmother Joy Carey, and Grandparents Dave and Marie Hill.
