Dallas E. Saferite Sr. 71 of La Salle passed away peacefully with his family at his side in his residence.
Visitation will be at Burgess Funeral home on Thursday Nov 10th, 2022 from 11 until the time of services.
The funeral service will be Thursday November 10th, 2022 at 1:00PM at Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle.
Pastor Tom Redig of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery.
The La Salle Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group will conduct full military rites at the cemetery.
Dallas was born on December 28, 1950 in Mora Minnesota to Warren and Verona (McGhan) Saferite.
In the early 70’s he served his country through the branch of the Air Force.
He married his best friend and the love of his life, Doris (Wonders) Saferite on December 19, 1977 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Streator Illinois.
He was employed by Sundstrand in LaSalle and then the State of Illinois as a Correctional Officer where he retired.
He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru, where he was also a choir member. Dallas was a member of the Local Metal Detector Club and sang with the Red Covered Bridge Barber Shop Quartet out of Princeton. He enjoyed fishing when he had the chance and riding his Harley gave him great pleasure. Playing pool and mustangs we're also some of his favorite things to do. Dallas was a family man. He cherished spending time with his family throughout the years.
He is survived by: his wife Doris of 44 years
Four children: Dallas E. (Rhonda Baggs) Saferite Jr., JulieAnn Clodfelter, Darcy Shafer, and Devin E. (Shayla) Saferite Sr.
Eighteen Grandchildren, Five Great-Grandchildren.
Two Brothers: Jeffrey Saferite, and Douglas Saferite Sr.
One Sister: Sylvia-Beth Bach
Several Nieces and Nephews
His three best pet friends were his dogs Honey and Sadie and his cat Molly. His best friends were: Danny Dugger, Joe and Rose Zeman, Wally Antas, Floyd Beams and Ellie Flynn
He is preceded in death by: his parents, three brothers, two sisters, four grandchildren.
