Corda A. Fruendt, 92 of Utica, Illinois passed away peacefully on March 29th at Pleasant View Healthcare in Ottawa, Illinois. The Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle, Illinois assisted with the arrangements and private services.
Corda was born on March 11, 1933 in Aurora, Illinois to John and Bulah (Campbell) Scanlon.
Corda spent fifty-one years married to her best friend and the love of her life Donald “Don” Fruendt after pledging their vows at Zion Lutheran Church in Ottawa, Illinois. Following their wedding, Don and Corda maintained membership with the church.
Corda was the administrator for Rivershore (Goldwater) Nursing Home in Marseilles, Illinois for over twenty years.
Corda enjoyed cooking and experimenting with various recipes. She was able to share this hobby with her friends and family members and cherished the time spent together over a meal. She was also known to brighten up her home with her handmade flower arrangements. Corda’s library was brimming with books, as she was a voracious reader and avid supporter of the Utica Public Library. Corda had several cats who kept her company while she was reading and spending time in the home. Although she often described herself as a “city girl”, Corda learned to love the relaxing nature of life on the farm and enjoyed watching Don’s horses in the fields and barn.
Corda is survived by her husband, Don, and her many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society.
