Klein on October 14, 1950 at St. Mary’s Church in Utica and moved to LaSalle where she resided her entire life. She worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell in LaSalle, at Westclox Company in Peru, and later in life at Arkin’s Drug Store in LaSalle and Utica. In her younger years she was an active member of the Illinois Valley Horsemen’s Association and spent many days riding and caring for her horses. Upon activation of her husband’s National Guard Unit during the Korean War she travelled with him to US Army bases in Georgia and California, returning home to LaSalle when he was sent to fight in Korea. Upon Herb’s return from the war she supported her husband’s long career at the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office and became a homemaker raising their son, Herb Jr.
Charlotte is survived by her only child, Herb, his wife Jill, grandchildren Matthew and Lauren, all of Peru, IL; brother Robert (Robby) Byczynski of Utica, IL; sister-in -law Gloria Byczynski of Ottawa, IL; Aunt June Pambianco of Waukesha, Wisconsin; nieces and nephews Sandy (Toby) Yeaple, Auburn, Washington; Beth (Rick) Schmitt, Sandwich, IL; Megan Byczynski, Utica IL; Brad (Lisa) Byczynski, Plainfield, IL; Bill Byczynski, Ottawa, IL; Jill (John) Pohar, Peru, IL ; and James (Marcie) Holland, Utica, IL. and numerous great nieces/nephews and cousins. Charlotte was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Later in life she spent much of her time caring for others, including her parents, grandchildren, numerous friends and relatives. She was especially proud of and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, attending their many events and activities. If you were a stranger and met Charlotte, you were not a stranger for long. She befriended all she met with her outgoing, spirited, and charitable personality. Spending time with Charlotte meant you knew exactly where she stood on any matter, and you never left her company hungry or in need. Charlotte loved being with and helping others and will be greatly missed by many.
