Obituary for Bob Wallock
Robert(Bob) Wallock 90, of LaSalle passed away on October31st at 2:00PM in Manor Court in Peru. A funeral mass will be Saturday November 4 at 10 in St. Hyacinth Church in LaSalle. The Very Reverend Paul Carlson, Pastor of La Salle Catholic Churches will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in La Salle. The LaSalle/ Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group will conduct Military Rites. Visitation will be Friday November 3 in the Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle from 5 to 7, with a Scripture Service at 4:45. Additional visitation will be in the Church on Saturday from 9 until the time of services.
He was born on Dec 30 1926, the 6th of 7 children born to Joseph and Martha (Schier) Wallock. All of his siblings have preceded him in death.
On April 19, 1953 he married the love of his life, Henrietta (Gollesch) of Oglesby. Many times, over the years he would comment on the first time he saw her, “she was about 9 yrs. old and playing with dolls, I thought she was pretty cute even then” She died on June 17 ,2015.
He was a retiree of Westclox in Peru then worked at and retired from American Hoest Plant. Fishing, gardening, putting together model trains and whatever else interested him was some of the things he enjoyed. Repairing watches and clocks was also a challenge he wouldn’t let defeat him. Lots of patience was required and he had it.
He was definitely the type of guy you could count on to lend a hand when needed from church maintenance, to helping friends and family...and he enjoyed it.
He was an Army veteran of the WW11 era, as part of the occupation in Japan. He looked at the experience of working with the Japanese to be a positive one.
He is survived by 3 children. Linda(Jim) Duttlinger of Lasalle. William (Bill) of Oglesby. Tom( Donna) of Lasalle. Grand children Eric(Vicki) Duttlinger of Oglesby and their 2 daughters, Addison and Aubrey. Dana(Patrick) Duttlinger Kelly of ElkGroveVillage and their 2 daughters, Jane and Julia.
