Obituary for Alvin C. Sinning Jr.
Alvin C. Sinning Jr. 80 of rural Oglesby passed away in his residence Saturday October 5 at 10:15PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday Oct 9 at 5PM in St. Mary’s Church in Utica with Msgr. James Swaner officiating. A flag folding ceremony will take place immediately after the service by the Utica Veterans Memorial Group. Cremation rites will follow with a private burial at a later date. Visitation will be from 3 until the time of services in the church. The Burgess Funeral Home of Utica is handling the arrangements. He was born on May 29 1933 in Ottawa IL to Alvin C. Sr and Mary (Szobar) Sinning. He served during the Korean War in the Marines. He married Margaret “Peggy”Kormalink on Sept 17, 1954 in Ottawa IL. He worked for the United States Post Office as a rural carrier for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Utica, The Marine Corp League in Jonesville IL, and the American Legion in Ottawa, IL. Survivors 2 Sons: Tim (Cathy) of Archbald PA and Anthony (Shelley) of Ottawa 5 Daughters: Marinna Sinning of Oglesby, Jacquelyn (Jeff) Joray of Knoxville TN, Kallie (David) Brooker of Lowell, Donna (Gary) Thurwanger of Oglesby, and Laura (Dan) Mentgen of Oglesby. 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by: His wife (1992), 2 sons Alvin “Chip”III, Christopher, 1 brother Lee, and a granddaughter Kimber . He served during the Korean War in the Marines.
