Obituary for Robert A. Washkowiak
Robert (Bob) Washkowiak 76 of La Salle passed away in his residence April 19 at 11:30pm. A funeral mass will be Friday April 27 at 10:30am in St. Patrick’s Church in La Salle. The Very Reverend Paul Carlson Pastor of La Salle Catholic Parishes will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery in La Salle. Full military rites will be conducted by the La Salle / Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group. Visitation will be Thursday April 26 in the Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle from 4 to 7pm. Additional visitation will be in the church on Friday from 9:30am until the time of services.
He was born on September 1, 1941 in St. Mary’s Hospital in La Salle to Harry and Dorothy (Toll) Washkowiak.
He served his country through the Airforce as Airman 2nd Class. He served from December 1958 to October 1962 during the Korean Conflict.
He married Mary Kaye Kasprowicz on September 14, 1968 in St. Patrick’s Church in La Salle.
He was an over the road driver for several years. Early in his career he was employed by Illinois Valley Cartage of Peru. In his final years he drove for Double “M” Trucking of La Salle.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of La Salle # 792, reaching the 4th degree. He was a member of the Teamsters Union 722 of La Salle.
He is survived by:
his wife,
1 Son; Scott (Jessica) Washkowiak of Palisade Co., 1 Grandson; Clive
1 Brother; Richard Smith of Oglesby, 1 Sister; Annette (Norman) Waszkowiak of Ocala FL.
Several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for his favorite charities.
